The Queensland Government’s New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) Project will see a significant increase in the South East Queensland train fleet meeting the growing demand for rail services. This project is the largest single investment by Queensland in trains and demonstrates the Government’s commitment to public transport in South East Queensland.

To cope with this increased electrical demand, Queensland Rail invested in new electrical infrastructure.

This included the installation and upgrade of additional power system infrastructure at Wulkuraka Feeder Station (an existing Feeder Station Site).  Key considerations included:

  • Introduction of new infrastructure (SFC, 25kV Switchgear, Overhead Traction Equipment)

  • Working around a live and operational railway

  • Brownfield interface for construction

  • Construction and staging for commissioning

This project was successfully completed with 0 LTI's and to an exceptional level of quality.
